Chapman, Elizabeth Biller, 1943-

These biographical papers contain reminiscences by Elizabeth Biller Chapman about her parents, Sylvia Kamerman Burack (Smith College Class of 1938) and Abraham Burack. Sylvia Burack (1916-2003) and Abraham Burack (1908-1978) were editors and publishers of the magazine The Writer and wrote and edited other texts. The collection also includes documents, photographs, and printed materials relating to them, as well as poems by Chapman about her parents.

Collection contains unpublished, typed collections of Chapman's own poetry (1980s-1990s), correspondence, material on readings and conferences, and periodicals and printed anthologies containing Chapman's poetry (80 items, 1993-2015). Includes materials from the Smith College Poetry Center and a biographical essay by Elizabeth Chapman. Also contains correspondence with various poets, including Naomi Shihab Nye, W.S. Merwin, and Galway Kinnell, and relating to various projects.
