Abstract
J. Phelps Wingate was for a time a Clerk of the Surperior Court in New York. The papers relate to J. Phelps Wingate's trip to England and Ireland, June 20, 1869-August 23, 1871 from New York City and return. Included in the papers are his diary, weekly letters home, a program from the Theatre Royal, Covent Garden for Tuesday morning, Jan. 4, 1870, a passport (visa) issued on July 8, 1871 and photographs.
