Germany: General, circa 1945-1959
Scope and Contents
Photographs of young women's Christian association buildings and programs in Germany. Following World War II young women's Christian associations in Germany become a place for people of all ages to gather. The World YWCA sends workers to assist in establishing programs and donate materials that local women then reuse and repurpose into clothing. Several photographs show women piecing American neckties into skirts. Additional photographs shor the Neighborhood House in Berlin, a center known as being a friendly and welcoming place. Photographs show women and children enjoying its classes and facilities.
