No More Cages was published by a group called Women Free Women in Prison. From their statement of purpose, the group expressed convinction that "women in prison are positioned dangerously at the intersection of a complex system of multiple oppressions, every one as deadly as the others. As Third World — primary Black - women, they bear the brunt of the genocidal colonialist policy of this government."No More Cages published news, poetry, dispatches from prisoners and dispatches from prison advocates.
