This series contains written and printed material, mission statements, board meeting documents, correspondence, and notes from organizations that Touré founded, was active in, and assorted organizations on which she collected information, as well as activities that Touré organized and participated in. The series is arranged alphabetically by name of organization or activity. Related materials can be found in SERIES VI. AUDIOVISUAL MATERIALS and SERIES V. SUBJECT FILES. Of particular interest are materials related to the Black Panther Party, D.C. Rape Crisis Center, International Council of African Women, Touré’s radio program “In Our Voices,” and the National Black Women’s Health Project. There is also substantial material on the March for Women’s Lives, the National Center for Human Rights Education, and SisterSong Women of Color Reproductive Justice Collective. A note on the Radio section: Pacifica is a national company that owns WPFW, a local Washington, D.C. radio station and the home of Touré’s radio shows, “Sophie’s Parlor” and “In Our Voices.”
