Scope and Contents

The Calling In the Calling Out Culture conference was held at Smith College, April 2, 2016 The video includes keynote speeches by Loretta Ross and Katherine Cross; a panel discussion with Loretta, Katherine and Smith students; workshop exercises and breakout sessions; and a moderated discussion with the panel and audience. The workshops aimed to build and nurture political consciousness and student activism" for social justice. Guest speakers were Loretta Ross and Katherine Cross, feminist sociologist, trans Latina, and freelance writer, is a collective member at the Sylvia Rivera Law Project and a PhD student at the CUNY Graduate Centre. The gathering was facilitated by veteran activist and facilitator Mistinguette Smith, with student activists from across the Pioneer Valley.

The digital video recordings were received on portable hard drive and backed up to storage server for presevation and access. Access files were created by Kate Geis for keynotes (edited) only. The original file structure and filenames were retained; a file list was created and attached to this record.
