Scope and Contents

Minutes and reports of the YWCA of the U.S.A.North Central Field Committee covering Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Iowa. Minutes of the field committee record business conducted at the meetings including passing resolutions, presenting reports, discussing personnel and making recommendations. Field secretary reports follow the minutes and describe the current conditions of member associations, assess the needs of various groups of women or regions, make recommendations for future visits and describe the external conditions faced by the women served. Documents also concern matters of finance and budget, camp and conference planning and cooperation with other organizations. The microdex is erroneously labeled microdex three on the microfilm.

This collection is open for use without restriction beyond the standard terms and conditions of Smith College Special Collections.

However, by agreement with the YWCA of the U.S.A., microdexes known to contain financial records or personal health information (usually on job applications) were not digitized and/or not published in our online repository as part of the CLIR Digitizing Hidden Collections grant. These microdexes may still be accessed on the original microfilm, and digital files may be made available to individual researchers upon request.
