Report of the Young Men's Christian Association in South Africa and Report of the YWCA in Syria, 1930

Scope and Contents

The reports present historical, religious, social and economic context to the work of the YMCA and YWCA in South Africa and Syria, respectively. The report of the YMCA in South Africa is divided into three sections. The first gives the economic, social and religious context, the second section concerns the Bantu Christian Student Movement and the final section summarizes the results of the survey making recommendations for expansion of work. The report appendices address the challenges of work among women and girls, work across race lines, notes on Rhodesia and descriptions of the labor and political movements in South Africa. The report of the YWCA in Syria begins with the religious, social and economic context, followed by descriptions of the work of the YWCA and concludes with a section on the YMCA in Beirut.
