Scope and Contents

Minutes and reports of the Social Morality Committee and Volunteer Workers' Bureau of the War Work Council of the National Board of the YWCA of the U.S.A. The Social Morality Committee coordinates lectures, training and educational materials teaching the benefits of health as the basis for socially and personally responsible living. Such program include sex education to girls and women, particularly women exposed to military camps. The Social Morality Committee begins as the Social Morality Commission, a commission to study the "social training of women and girls." Also included is a report of the Bureau of Social Education who is tasked with research and publication of educational materials. The Volunteer Workers' Bureau of the War Work Council is responsible for the training, placement and recruitment of volunteers to carry out the work of the War Work Council and is formerly known as the Workers' Bureau. After the end of World War I, the committee discusses the transition of volunteer training programs and volunteers to peacetime activities.
