Scope and Contents

Documents concerning the YWCA of the U.S.A. Community Division. The Community Division's purpose is to provide direct services to local associations and aid in communication between local associations and the national organization, as well as to other organizations. Materials concern the organization, planning and running of city and metropolitan associations. Guidelines describe the structure of organizations in the city and large metropolitan setting including cooperation with other organizations, relationship of branches, centers, and institutes to the National Board and each other, budgeting and administration of clubs, and purpose and aims.

This collection is open for use without restriction beyond the standard terms and conditions of Smith College Special Collections.

However, by agreement with the YWCA of the U.S.A., microdexes known to contain financial records or personal health information (usually on job applications) were not digitized and/or not published in our online repository as part of the CLIR Digitizing Hidden Collections grant. These microdexes may still be accessed on the original microfilm, and digital files may be made available to individual researchers upon request.
