Scope and Contents

Documents concerning the Eighth National Convention of the Young Women's Christian Associations of the United States of America assemblies, group meetings and program. Business and professional, industrial, and student assemblies each meet separately during the convention to discuss matters unique to their groups and to united under their common goals. Assemblies discuss cooperation with outside organizations as well as within the YWCA. In addition, assemblies vote on resolutions and actions and discuss purpose and aims for the coming term. Additional items include further reporting on the membership basis for the YWCA of the U.S.A., a worship program, minutes and outlines of group meetings, and a discussion guide on the Social Ideals of the Churches.

This collection is open for use without restriction beyond the standard terms and conditions of Smith College Special Collections.

However, by agreement with the YWCA of the U.S.A., microdexes known to contain financial records or personal health information (usually on job applications) were not digitized and/or not published in our online repository as part of the CLIR Digitizing Hidden Collections grant. These microdexes may still be accessed on the original microfilm, and digital files may be made available to individual researchers upon request.
