Scope and Contents

Stenotype proceedings of the Tenth National Convention of the Young Women's Christian Associations of the United States of America. The detailed proceedings follow the convention from opening remarks to final adjournment. Sessions are opened with a prayer or hymn and each morning Dr. Harold Cooke Phillips directs a worship service. "Occupation of the field" is the convention theme and presentations and discussions concern opportunities for further work in new and established associations. This theme also includes strengthening existing methods and extending YWCA work in foreign countries. The proceedings follow the business meetings of the convention where resolutions are voted on and procedure is followed to discuss matters of national importance to the organization including continued discussion of the membership basis. In addition, there are reports from membership groups and departments and nominations of committee and board members. Presentations from the Foreign Field Division include addresses by women working in other countries including Mexico, China, Latvia and India.
