Scope and Contents

Stenotype proceedings from the Thirteenth National Convention of the Young Women's Christian Associations of the United States of America. These detailed proceedings follow the convention from opening remarks to final adjournment. Worship services, devotional exercises and addresses are made by both YWCA of the U.S.A. members and special guests. Proceedings also follow convention business such as motions for resolutions and actions and elections and nominations of positions. Convention business concerns social and political activity, membership practices and basis, approval of the National Board reports, adoption of the Social Ideals of the Churches and other matters. Emphasis on social and political activity largely concern the labor movement, treatment of and work with African American women and immigrant women and economic relief. Other discussions and themes present operating under a reduced budget, the National Board's roles and duties to local associations and cooperation with other organizations.
