Conventions, thirteenth, 1934
Scope and Contents
Official proceedings the Thirteenth National Convention of the Young Women's Christian Associations of the United States of America. These detailed proceedings follow the convention from opening remarks to final adjournment. Worship services, devotional exercises and addresses are made by both YWCA of the U.S.A. members and special guests. Proceedings also follow convention business, motions for resolutions and actions, and elections and nominations of positions. Resolutions discussed and voted on concern social and political activity, membership practices and basis, approval of the National Board reports, adoption of the Social Ideals of the Churches and other matters. Emphasis on social and political activity largely concern the labor movement, treatment of and work with African American women and immigrant women, and economic relief. Other discussion and themes present include the necessity of the national organization and local associations operating under a reduced budget, the National Board's roles and duties of support, and the role of cooperation with other organizations. Committee and board members are listed in the proceedings. A separate pamphlet following the proceedings further details the actions of the conventions.
