Conventions, seventeenth, 1940-1946
Scope and Contents
Documents concerning the Student Assembly of the Seventeenth National Convention of Young Women's Christian Associations of the United States of America. Similar to the business and professional, and industrial associations, student associations are faced with new challenges as men return from World War II. Returning soldiers are returning to school and are given priority over women college students. In addition to opportunity for women and the changing economic, social, and political environments, the assembly discusses at length its cooperation with other organizations such as the YMCA and the United Student Christian Council as well as its relationship to the national YWCA of the U.S.A. movement. Throughout the assembly, the role of participating in a Christian movement on campus is discussed.
