Conventions, eighteenth, 1949 March

Scope and Contents

Official proceedings and actions of the Eighteenth National Convention of the Young Women's Christian Associations of the United States of America. The published proceedings follow general convention business sessions where delegates, acting as representatives of local associations, discuss and vote on matters of national organization, responsibilities and governance. This includes revisions to the constitution continued from previous conventions, deciding on political and social positions, electing leadership, adopting programming, accepting reports, and matters of finance and management. Social and political matters discussed reflect the current international issues and largely regard international relationships, democracy and civil rights and the role of a Christian organization. Addresses, speeches and special programs are not reproduced in these proceedings but are represented in other convention materials.
