Conventions, eighteenth, 1949
Scope and Contents
Documents concerning group meetings at the Eighteenth National Convention of Young Women's Christian Associations of the United States of America. Small discussion sessions are available to delegates in attendance in order to have more personal interactions surrounding some topics. Preparatory materials and discussion guides for the groups concern the national emphasis, finance, and public affairs programs. In addition to the discussion groups, the Eighteenth Convention hosts group meetings for the health education, public affairs, and Y-Teen(formerly Girl Reserve) programs. The health education group focuses on opportunity for all women and girls to receive health education, maternal and child care education, mental health services and education and athletic standards for women. The public affairs program concerns the YWCA of the U.S.A.'s participation in matters of social, political, and economic concern in the United States. The focus is on the international political climate and reconstruction as well as matters of civil liberties, democracy, and combating racism. Finally, the newly named Y-Teen group discusses programming for teen aged girls.
