Scope and Contents

Correspondence and reports concerning YWCA of the U.S.A. work in Latvia, and Lithuania. YWCA of the U.S.A. secretaries in Latvia work on training programs and developing relationships with the Estonian YWCA and the YMCA organizations. Correspondence with Vika Moon concerns the efforts to develop a unified organization with the YMCA and the resulting conflict and misunderstandings in the reorganization. Documents concerning Lithuania include correspondence and reports from Ruth Woodsmall, a secretary of the YWCA of the U.S.A., concerning the need for an association in Kovna, descriptions of relief work and a list of established contacts. Reports to the YWCA of the U.S.A. provide updates on progress, assess challenges and opportunities, and describe current social and living conditions. Correspondence provides a more personal description of travels and other encounters in addition to progress reports and requests for aid.
