Scope and Contents

Documents concerning the student Christian movement in Japan, the training of Japanese YWCA leadership and the results of a study of local associations in Japan. The student associations in Japan work with women college students and the World Student Federation to encourage opportunities for women college students, spread the Christian student movement and provide a place for young Christian students to meet and interact. The student associations are further assessed in the studies of association work in Japan. The results of the study give an analysis of the YWCA activities, finance and management and purpose and aims of student associations. As part of the cooperative partnership between the YWCA of Japan and the YWCA of the U.S.A., the YWCA of the U.S.A. provides training for Japanese leadership so that they may take an active role in the management of their associations. Japanese women receive sponsorships or scholarships to visit the United States and observe local associations and participate in training schools. Reports and correspondence with trainees concern travel arrangements and descriptions of the training opportunities. Training materials outline the opportunities available and topics to be taught.
