Scope and Contents

Documents concerning the international conferences of the World Young Women's Christian Associations in Champery, Switzerland and Stockholm, Sweden and minutes of the meetings of the Executive Committee of the World YWCA. Delegates to the World YWCA Conferences meet to united under a common purpose and aim, discuss and vote on matters the effect the international organization and discuss the future of the YWCA international movement. Discussions concern the relationship of the church to national associations, international conditions affecting women, the relationship between the many parts of the YWCA to each other and cooperation with other organizations. Both conferences discuss the social, physical and health problems faced by immigrants and discuss the role of the Christian women in assisting the needs of the immigrants. In addition, the conferences are a chance for delegates to present on the YWCA activities in their country and to discuss the women's movement and the labor movement. Minutes of the Executive Committee of the World YWCA concern matter of the organization and finance as well as conducting business that must be addresses in between the international conferences.

However, by agreement with the YWCA of the U.S.A., microdexes known to contain financial records or personal health information (usually on job applications) were not digitized and/or not published in our online repository as part of the CLIR Digitizing Hidden Collections grant. These microdexes may still be accessed on the original microfilm, and digital files may be made available to individual researchers upon request.
