Scope and Contents

Correspondence with Sarah Lyon and Harriet Taylor followed by miscellaneous documents concerning YWCA of the U.S.A. work in other countries. Sara Lyon, an executive of the Foreign Division of the YWCA of the U.S.A., and Harriet Taylor, a YWCA of the U.S.A. secretary working abroad, correspond with members of the Foreign Division to arrange travel and visitations and report on the YWCA activities. Other documents concern YWCA developments around the world and include updates from the field and descriptions and overviews of the organization of the YWCA of the U.S.A. Foreign Division.

This collection is open for use without restriction beyond the standard terms and conditions of Smith College Special Collections.

However, by agreement with the YWCA of the U.S.A., microdexes known to contain financial records or personal health information (usually on job applications) were not digitized and/or not published in our online repository as part of the CLIR Digitizing Hidden Collections grant. These microdexes may still be accessed on the original microfilm, and digital files may be made available to individual researchers upon request.
