Scope and Contents

Documents concerning Girl Reserve advisor's training, alumnae clubs and anniversary celebrations. Girl Reserve, the YWCA club for adolescent girls, is an opportunity for girls to meet and to develop their spiritual, physical and intellectual lives through social activities, camps, leadership training and classes. To celebrate the fiftieth and sixtieth anniversaries of the Girl Reserve Department special activities, services and pageants are planned. Materials are circulated with suggested worship services, activities and ideas for celebrating and promoting the anniversaries. Pamphlets, correspondence and outlines concerning the training of the adult leadership of the Girl Reserve discuss the method of working with teen-aged girls, provide examples of programs and activities and outline the purpose and aims of Girl Reserve work. When a girl ages out of the Girl Reserve club she then moves on to another YWCA of the U.S.A. membership group such as the Business and Professional or Industrial Departments. When there are no membership departments to meet a girl's needs in transition after leaving the Girl Reserve there are some cases in which Alumnae Clubs are established to meet these needs. Documents concerning the Alumnae Clubs discuss the situations where formation of such a club is appropriate and the responsibility of the associations to follow up with girls after they graduate high school.
