Girl Reserve conferences, 1945-1946
Scope and Contents
Correspondence and reports concerning the southern region Girl Reserve conferences. Girl Reserve, the YWCA club for adolescent girls, is an opportunity for girl to meet and to develop their spiritual, physical and intellectual lives through social activities, camps, leadership training and classes. Regional conferences bring together girls from different backgrounds and Girl Reserve clubs across a region to unite under common purpose, discuss matters important to them in their daily lives and personal growth and develop leadership skills to bring back to their home clubs. Correspondence and other materials concern the planning of the conference accommodations and programs and assessments of past conferences. In southern areas the conferences remain segregated as there are separate African American Girl Reserve conferences, both documented in these records.
