Girl Reserve conferences, 1913-1944
Scope and Contents
Miscellaneous materials relating to Girl Reserve conferences. Materials cover running and managing of groups, attendance, leadership, administration, developing a program, interracial conferences, and other planning and administrative materials. A publication titled "Program emphases interpreted for younger girl conferences and club work in the Young Women's Christian Associations" provides an overview of how the YWCA program is delivered to girls and young women. Program topics include, religion, race relations, music, employment, international relations, health and recreation, and family. Other documents analyze the function and success of summer conferences and other special conferences.

This collection is open for use without restriction beyond the standard terms and conditions of Smith College Special Collections.
However, by agreement with the YWCA of the U.S.A., microdexes known to contain financial records or personal health information (usually on job applications) were not digitized and/or not published in our online repository as part of the CLIR Digitizing Hidden Collections grant. These microdexes may still be accessed on the original microfilm, and digital files may be made available to individual researchers upon request.
