Scope and Contents
Headquarters services materials include a Lefingwell office space study, YWCA of the U.S.A. Space Committee correspondence and reports, and additional materials relating to building, office, and meeting spaces. The Lefingwell study is an office efficiency study conducted for the National Board of the YWCA of the U.S.A. after they experienced a great increase in staff. Materials include correspondence with W.H. Lefingwell, reports on the study, and recommendations for change. Space Committee materials are largely comprised of correspondence with the Space Committee relating to buildings matters. Miscellaneous materials include rental information, utility expenses, permits, correspondence regarding building matters, and estimates.

This collection is open for use without restriction beyond the standard terms and conditions of Smith College Special Collections.
However, by agreement with the YWCA of the U.S.A., microdexes known to contain financial records or personal health information (usually on job applications) were not digitized and/or not published in our online repository as part of the CLIR Digitizing Hidden Collections grant. These microdexes may still be accessed on the original microfilm, and digital files may be made available to individual researchers upon request.
