Scope and Contents
Documents concerning topics of health in the YWCA of the U.S.A. including health examination policies, mental hygiene, nurses work, Olympic games, shoe campaign, social education, social education in Labrador, the Women's foundation for health and miscellaneous pamphlets. Olympic materials address the matter of women participating in the international games as well as the United States' participation in the 1936 Berlin Olympic games under the Nazi regime. The shoe campaign describes aspects of foot health and recommends best practices in fitness and footwear. Women's foundation for health materials include the pamphlet series "Positive Health Series", addressing exercises, activities, and other aspects of social, physical, sex, and mental health. Pamphlets address girls health and fitness, diet and exercise for women and girls, illustrate specific activities and exercises, posture, and other health related topics.

This collection is open for use without restriction beyond the standard terms and conditions of Smith College Special Collections.
However, by agreement with the YWCA of the U.S.A., microdexes known to contain financial records or personal health information (usually on job applications) were not digitized and/or not published in our online repository as part of the CLIR Digitizing Hidden Collections grant. These microdexes may still be accessed on the original microfilm, and digital files may be made available to individual researchers upon request.
