Scope and Contents

YWCA of the U.S.A. Industrial Club Council reports arranged by region. Reports summarize recommended activities and initiatives, discuss club organization and news, discuss effective programming for employed women, and report on industrial issues. Reports also discuss fair wages, labor laws, child labor, and education of employed women. The Federation of Industrial Clubs documents the organization of programming for employed women and women in industrial work. Handbooks and pamphlets discuss the formation of industrial clubs, give advice on effective membership and programming, provide recommended resources, discuss purpose, goals and mission, and make recommendations on education for employed women.

This collection is open for use without restriction beyond the standard terms and conditions of Smith College Special Collections.

However, by agreement with the YWCA of the U.S.A., microdexes known to contain financial records or personal health information (usually on job applications) were not digitized and/or not published in our online repository as part of the CLIR Digitizing Hidden Collections grant. These microdexes may still be accessed on the original microfilm, and digital files may be made available to individual researchers upon request.
