Leadership, 1926-1950

Scope and Contents

Reports and policy manuals of the Personnel Bureau of the Leadership Division of the YWCA of the U.S.A. The Personnel Bureau is responsible for policy, procedure and standards for hiring, recruiting, job analysis, benefits and other human resource needs. Similar to other areas of the YWCA of the U.S.A., careful studies and analysis are used to inform decisions and recommendations. Salary data reports compare wages and job descriptions across all departments of the organization, track changes over time and make recommendations for future changes. Biennial and annual reports of the Personnel Bureau summarize and assess the work over the previous two years, discuss challenges and opportunities for the coming years, consider policy changes and provide an overview of the structure and function of the group. Policy manuals detail the YWCA of the U.S.A. personnel policies and procedures covering hiring, recruiting, leave policies, hours of work, retirement, wages, job analysis, job orientation and separation. A special bulletin is included to address the challenges of reductions in 1933 that arise from reduced budgets due to the Great Depression.
