Scope and Contents

YWCA of the U.S.A. training project budgets, statements, workshop materials and documents concerning the YWCA School for Professional Workers. To develop leadership skills and train secretaries in method and techniques used in the diverse sections of the YWCA of the U.S.A., training workshops, summer schools, seminars and institutes are offered by the YWCA of the U.S.A. Budget forms track the expenses incurred and fees collected for such training courses. Leadership workshops offer sessions on techniques for handling challenging scenarios, management skills, training and working with diverse constituent groups. The YWCA School for Professional Workers is a training program for new YWCA of the U.S.A. employees. The sessions orient the new worker on the purpose and aims of the YWCA of the U.S.A. in addition to providing lessons in leadership and programming method used. Pamphlets and reports for these training sessions provide overviews of the course content and make assessments of the content. Outlines, schedules and bibliographies provide a more in depth look at the course content. Other materials pamphlets for new employees, reports and assessments of training programs and correspondence concerning the arrangements for the training programs.

This collection is open for use without restriction beyond the standard terms and conditions of Smith College Special Collections.

However, by agreement with the YWCA of the U.S.A., microdexes known to contain financial records or personal health information (usually on job applications) were not digitized and/or not published in our online repository as part of the CLIR Digitizing Hidden Collections grant. These microdexes may still be accessed on the original microfilm, and digital files may be made available to individual researchers upon request.
