Scope and Contents

Documents concerning the American Youth Congress, an organization to encourage the unity of youth and young adults and a "cooperation center" for organizations serving young people. The YWCA of the U.S.A. and the Business and Professional Division of the YWCA of the U.S.A., as organizations serving youth and young adults, take an interest in and participate in the congress. Through disseminating information and congresses and conventions the American Youth Congress addresses issues faced by youth in the United States and shares statements on their stance on issues affecting youth. Documents include proceedings of congresses and committee meetings, declarations and statements of positions and discussions of problems faced by youth through newsletters and pamphlets. As tensions in Europe increase and World War II approaches, discussion includes peace, international cooperation and the aide to youth in China, Spain and Germany. In addition, documents include the "Declaration of the rights of American Youth" and discussion of and information about the American Youth Act.
