Rural, 1925-1928
Scope and Contents
Reports of regional rural studies for Tecumseh, Ohio, Tulare County California, and Wausau, Wisconsin, conducted with funding from the Ford Foundation. Careful studies are made to identify problems in rural associations and communities that may be underserved, identify what makes a successful rural associations and make recommendation for future practices. Reports provide background information, describe the method of study, present data such as population and association statistics, make recommendations for future rural development and discuss the social and economic problems faced by each community. The report of the study of Tulare County, California includes supporting materials such as images, clippings and completed survey forms.

This collection is open for use without restriction beyond the standard terms and conditions of Smith College Special Collections.
However, by agreement with the YWCA of the U.S.A., microdexes known to contain financial records or personal health information (usually on job applications) were not digitized and/or not published in our online repository as part of the CLIR Digitizing Hidden Collections grant. These microdexes may still be accessed on the original microfilm, and digital files may be made available to individual researchers upon request.
