Scope and Contents
Documents concerning the YWCA of the U.S.A. National Student Assembly standards commission for student associations of the YWCA of the U.S.A. The commission is formed to study the relationship of the national student organization to local associations and their role on college campuses and make recommendations for basic standards for affiliated student YWCA of the U.S.A. associations. Later, the Constitution and Standards Committee studies the standards of affiliations outlines the standards and bylaws and constitutions. Constitutions and bylaws govern the local and national student YWCA of the U.S.A. organizations, define the relationship between the local and national student bodies and outline the standards and purpose of student associations. Constitutions and bylaws are included for the national and local level beginning in 1884.

This collection is open for use without restriction beyond the standard terms and conditions of Smith College Special Collections.
However, by agreement with the YWCA of the U.S.A., microdexes known to contain financial records or personal health information (usually on job applications) were not digitized and/or not published in our online repository as part of the CLIR Digitizing Hidden Collections grant. These microdexes may still be accessed on the original microfilm, and digital files may be made available to individual researchers upon request.
