Scope and Contents

Documents concerning student Christian association activity in the Asilomar (Pacific Southwest) of the YWCA of the U.S.A. Documents include training seminar workbooks and programs for cabinet members of the Pacific Southwest student YMCA and YWCA, the constitution for the Regional Student Council of YWCA's in the Pacific Southwest, minutes and reports of the Regional Student Council of the YWCA and YMCA in the Pacific Southwest region, minutes of the meetings of the Executive Committee of the Pacific Southwest Regional Student Council and minutes and reports concerning the inclusive efforts of the regional student associations. Regional council meetings and Executive Committee meetings are opportunities for the leaders of the regional student YWCA and YMCA to discuss the national emphases and directives that come from the National Intercollegiate Christian Council and to address specific concerns and emphases for the Pacific Southwest region. Organizational charts in the council meeting workbooks and reports provide a visual representation of the relationship between regional councils, the student YMCA and student YWCA, the National Intercollegiate Christian Council and the local student associations.

This collection is open for use without restriction beyond the standard terms and conditions of Smith College Special Collections.

However, by agreement with the YWCA of the U.S.A., microdexes known to contain financial records or personal health information (usually on job applications) were not digitized and/or not published in our online repository as part of the CLIR Digitizing Hidden Collections grant. These microdexes may still be accessed on the original microfilm, and digital files may be made available to individual researchers upon request.
