Scope and Contents

Correspondence concerning the use and representation of the symbols of the YWCA of the U.S.A. and documents concerning vocational guidance programs in local associations of the YWCA of the U.S.A. Reports, pamphlets, booklets, notes and outlines concerning vocational guidance suggest Vocational guidance methods and programs, report of the activities of associations doing vocational guidance work, outline and discuss employment issues young girls and women may face, summarize and discuss available vocations and address the need for Vocational guidance work. Also included is the script for a play on vocational guidance titled "Bread and butter plus."

This collection is open for use without restriction beyond the standard terms and conditions of Smith College Special Collections.

However, by agreement with the YWCA of the U.S.A., microdexes known to contain financial records or personal health information (usually on job applications) were not digitized and/or not published in our online repository as part of the CLIR Digitizing Hidden Collections grant. These microdexes may still be accessed on the original microfilm, and digital files may be made available to individual researchers upon request.
