Anniversary, 1952-1955
Scope and Contents
Documents concerning planning for celebrations of the 1955 centennial anniversary of the beginning of the YWCA movement. Pamphlets from the National Board of the YWCA of the U.S.A. and the officers of the American Centennial Observance and Celebration appeal for a centennial fundraising drive describing the national and international work of the YWCA and its effect on the development of young women. Minutes and reports of the YWCA of the U.S.A. Advanced Gifts Committee concern fundraising efforts, fundraising and solicitation policy, and the management of received gifts. The YWCA of the U.S.A. Commemoration Committee issues guidebooks and materials to support local associations in their celebrations of the centennial anniversary. A guidebook for commemoration activities includes sample services and artwork, a timeline of the development of the YWCA, staff roles, suggested activities and a list of reference materials.
