Scope and Contents

Documents concerning the YWCA of the U.S.A. Department of Data and Statistics and local association building dedication programs. The Department of Data and Statistics, later the Bureau of Research, Studies and Program Resources, publishes a yearly pamphlet of community association statistics. These pamphlets compile results from community association questionnaires concerning membership, enrollment and participation. Additional documents concerning data and statistics include correspondence requesting participation or return of a form, blank forms for collecting data and and analysis of financial statements from community associations. Following the data and statistics documents are programs from building dedication ceremonies of local associations alphabetical by community.

This collection is open for use without restriction beyond the standard terms and conditions of Smith College Special Collections.

However, by agreement with the YWCA of the U.S.A., microdexes known to contain financial records or personal health information (usually on job applications) were not digitized and/or not published in our online repository as part of the CLIR Digitizing Hidden Collections grant. These microdexes may still be accessed on the original microfilm, and digital files may be made available to individual researchers upon request.
