Scope and Contents

Documents concerning YWCA of the U.S.A. work in Japan with the YWCA of Japan. The Foreign Division of the YWCA of the U.S.A. supports international associations through financial contributions, resource sharing, supplying staff and arranging leadership training opportunities. Correspondence with American secretaries Doris Boss and Eldri Dieson, and Japanese secretaries Miyako Ishibashi, Yuki Naito and Tamaki Uemura concern administrative matters such as travel and finance in addition to comments and reports of association work, challenges and successes. Through grants, travel scholarships and travel facilitation, the Foreign Division assists Japanese women visiting the United States for education and training. Travel arrangements, financial aid, education plans and training opportunities are arranged in the correspondence. Other documents include a summary of the work of the YWCA of Japan and historical timeline, financial reports and miscellaneous correspondence.
