Scope and Contents

Documents concerning YWCA of the U.S.A. Foreign Division program and statistics. The YWCA of the U.S.A. Foreign Division works in the United States and abroad to develop international understanding and strengthen the position of women worldwide. Their program overview for 1960 outlines their work with a short summary of the program in each country. A copy of "At Home Abroad" provides a historical background to the work of the Foreign Division. Statistical summaries titled "World Service Statistics" provide basic statistics concerning the number of countries operating associations, the number of countries the YWCA of the U.S.A. has secretaries in, the distribution of secretaries and trainees and visitors in the United States

This collection is open for use without restriction beyond the standard terms and conditions of Smith College Special Collections.

However, by agreement with the YWCA of the U.S.A., microdexes known to contain financial records or personal health information (usually on job applications) were not digitized and/or not published in our online repository as part of the CLIR Digitizing Hidden Collections grant. These microdexes may still be accessed on the original microfilm, and digital files may be made available to individual researchers upon request.
