Scope and Contents

Documents concerning YWCA of the U.S.A. student associations inservice training, the Intervarsity Christian Fellowship and the International Union of Students. Following these documents are lists of National Student YWCA student associations, council members, national officers, regional council members and representatives followed by materials on using loan to finance college. The YWCA of the U.S.A. places a lot of value on training and developing leadership to strengthen associations. To support a need for experienced staff in student associations an in-service training program is developed to provide trainees in the program with work experience in associations. By 1951 the program is under evaluation. Minutes and reports include discussion of the value of academic and professional education versus on the job training. In addition, the program's committee evaluates the structure of the program, the benefits to the trainee and the YWCA of the U.S.A., and the cost of maintaining the program. Additional National Student YWCA documents include lists and directories of student associations in colleges and universities, council members, national officers, regional council chairmen and representatives to outside organizations. Also included in this microdex are a report of an international student conference from the International Union of Students, a memorandum profiling the Intervarsity Christian Fellowship and an information packet on using loans to finance college education.
