Scope and Contents

Minutes and reports of the National Student Christian Federation, an organization created to unite the student Christian organizations in the United States and connect them to the World Student Christian Federation. The purpose, function and structure of the National Student Christian Federation is defined in its constitution and bylaws. These documents also define the governing bodies and standing committees and commissions. Minutes and reports of the committees and commissions address the finance and administration of the organization as well as key issues and emphases in program and policy. The general assembly meets annually as the governing body of the national organization. Assembly reports summarize discussion and actions relating to topics such as religion on campuses, Christian organizations in the political and social climate and segregation and race relations. The assembly meetings also include reports from committees and studies and the election of new officers.

This collection is open for use without restriction beyond the standard terms and conditions of Smith College Special Collections.

However, by agreement with the YWCA of the U.S.A., microdexes known to contain financial records or personal health information (usually on job applications) were not digitized and/or not published in our online repository as part of the CLIR Digitizing Hidden Collections grant. These microdexes may still be accessed on the original microfilm, and digital files may be made available to individual researchers upon request.
