Scope and Contents
Documents concerning the development of staff of the National Student YWCA, National Student YMCA and the National Councils of the YMCA and YWCA. Staff seminars are open to any professional staff member of student associations. They offer focused training on methods of work in student associations, leadership techniques and practices for addressing common concerns among college students. To increase staff understanding of the Christian purpose of the National Student YWCA and National Student YMCA, the National Student Councils of the YMCA and YWCA release recommended reading and companion study guides. These resources are designed to direct reflection discussion on the role of Christianity in the student movements, campus lives and social movements.

This collection is open for use without restriction beyond the standard terms and conditions of Smith College Special Collections.
However, by agreement with the YWCA of the U.S.A., microdexes known to contain financial records or personal health information (usually on job applications) were not digitized and/or not published in our online repository as part of the CLIR Digitizing Hidden Collections grant. These microdexes may still be accessed on the original microfilm, and digital files may be made available to individual researchers upon request.
