National Student Councils YMCA and YWCA, 1951-1960
Scope and Contents
Documents concerning the National Student Councils of the YMCA and YWCA (NSCY) Washington, D.C. project. NSCY summer projects combine work experience, discussion sessions and group living to offer student participants a chance to expand job experiences, develop personally and spiritually and meet students from other associations. At the Washington Student Citizenship seminar participants gain an understanding of the democratic process in the United States, work in a federal agency and learn about problems of government in the United States. The seminar also addresses the role of the Christianity in addressing these social and political issues. Brochures and program notes describe the purpose and function of the seminar and application packets provide information on the individual applicants.
