Scope and Contents
The Committee to Study National Membership Policy of the YWCA of the U.S.A. is charged with studying the membership practices and policies of the YWCA of the U.S.A., clarifying membership policy and its implications, suggesting practices to strengthen membership and bringing recommendations to convention if necessary. Progress reports, notes and preliminary study results include reactions from members and local associations about current membership requirements and practices, assessments of study progress and direction and overviews of current membership practices. Issues addressed in the study include membership age restrictions, the role and function of membership, why some participants chose to become members and membership fees.

This collection is open for use without restriction beyond the standard terms and conditions of Smith College Special Collections.
However, by agreement with the YWCA of the U.S.A., microdexes known to contain financial records or personal health information (usually on job applications) were not digitized and/or not published in our online repository as part of the CLIR Digitizing Hidden Collections grant. These microdexes may still be accessed on the original microfilm, and digital files may be made available to individual researchers upon request.
