Convention, 1967 , 1967
Scope and Contents
Documents concerning the planning and proceedings of the 1967 National Convention of the YWCA of the U.S.A. including information regarding delegates, forum sessions, meditations, programs and reports. National conventions are called every three years to vote on leadership for the coming cycle, adopt program emphases, discuss social, political, spiritual and economic issues affecting communities and conduct national business. In addition to delegates from local associations, the convention includes special guests and visitors from outside organizations. These organizational delegates share specialized knowledge and contribute to the discussions and themes of the convention. Minutes, correspondence and notes from committees responsible for the organizational delegates concern the purpose of the delegates and their role in convention as well as accommodations and preparations for their visit. Additional delegate documents include a report of an analysis of delegate quotas beginning with the first national convention and an announcement of a special part-time convention fee for student delegates. Convention program materials include notes and reports from convention forum sessions, daily meditations, a preliminary program for convention and the official convention report of the National Board of the YWCA of the U.S.A. The printed report summarizes general convention sessions including actions, reports from divisions and groups and business sessions. Speeches from principal guests are not included in the report and can be found summarized in the June and November, 1967 issues of "YWCA Magazine." The report's forward further explains what is and isn't included in the convention report. For a complete record of the convention please see the stenotype proceedings located on microdex ten through twelve of reel 287 of the YWCA of the U.S.A. records.
