Scope and Contents
Songbook, press releases, pre-convention meeting minutes, convention program and selected speeches from the twenty fifth National Convention of the YWCA of the U.S.A. Press releases include announcements of important actions such as the adoption of the elimination of racism as a program emphases and reproductions of key speeches. Also included is a sample press release that local associations can use to send to local press. Pre-convention meetings are held at local associations or regionally across the country so that they can discuss proposed topics prior to convention. These meetings are records here as minutes, notes, reports and agendas. Finally is the text for speeches given at convention by Athena Athanassiou, president of the World YWCA and Mrs. Robert W. Claytor president of the YWCA of the U.S.A.

This collection is open for use without restriction beyond the standard terms and conditions of Smith College Special Collections.
However, by agreement with the YWCA of the U.S.A., microdexes known to contain financial records or personal health information (usually on job applications) were not digitized and/or not published in our online repository as part of the CLIR Digitizing Hidden Collections grant. These microdexes may still be accessed on the original microfilm, and digital files may be made available to individual researchers upon request.
