Scope and Contents

The YWCA of the U.S.A. and its National Board repeat their role from the 1939 World's Fair in 1964 as a hospitality service and welcoming facility in addition to hosting a reception for foreign commissioners. A brief summary report summarizes the role of the YWCA of the U.S.A. in the fair and correspondence, minutes and reports concerning preparations for the fair offer a more in depth look into their role and intentions as well as relationships to the fair and other hosting organizations. Also included is a guide to the exhibit booths of the fair and a guest list for a reception.

This collection is open for use without restriction beyond the standard terms and conditions of Smith College Special Collections.

However, by agreement with the YWCA of the U.S.A., microdexes known to contain financial records or personal health information (usually on job applications) were not digitized and/or not published in our online repository as part of the CLIR Digitizing Hidden Collections grant. These microdexes may still be accessed on the original microfilm, and digital files may be made available to individual researchers upon request.
