Scope and Contents

Documents concerning the program and development of young women's Christian associations in Rhodesia. The YWCA of the U.S.A. has sent secretaries to advise and direct the development of the association in Rhodesia. In their correspondence and reports to the YWCA of the U.S.A. they describe the needs of the women and girls of Rhodesia in addition to the political and racial context in which they are operating. Many letters comment on the effect of the political tensions with Northern and Southern Rhodesia have on the local women and the progress of establishing associations. While there are several women working or visiting Rhodesia much of the correspondence is with Margaret Hathaway. Additional documents include proceedings of regional conferences, regional newsletters and a handbook for leaders working with youth.
