Student: Southwest region, 1961-1966
Scope and Contents
Documents concerning the Southwest region National Student YWCA including reports of summer projects, work plans and additional regional documents. Summer projects offer students the opportunity to gain experience in community or social work often experiencing a different way of life and learning of the struggles of the people they serve. The Houston project centers around providing pre-school programs to children in need, the migrant worker program explores the social and economic struggles of migrant workers in Texas and the San Antonio project explores the challenges of urban living. Work Plans outline the timeline, scope and emphases of regional development and activity. Additional regional documents concern the development of the region and include, regional correspondence and additional program reports.

This collection is open for use without restriction beyond the standard terms and conditions of Smith College Special Collections.
However, by agreement with the YWCA of the U.S.A., microdexes known to contain financial records or personal health information (usually on job applications) were not digitized and/or not published in our online repository as part of the CLIR Digitizing Hidden Collections grant. These microdexes may still be accessed on the original microfilm, and digital files may be made available to individual researchers upon request.
