Scope and Contents
Correspondence, administrative records and reports concerning the YWCA of the U.S.A. association and Phyllis Wheatley branch in LIttle Rock, Arkansas. The Phyllis Wheatley branch serves the African American girls and Women in Little Rock documents concerning the history of the branch describe its relationship to the local association and national organization as well as reasons for its separate establishment. Documents include visitation reports, lists of personnel and volunteers, histories of the association and Phyllis Wheatley branch, documents concerning the club buildings, a report of LIttle Rock social work agencies and correspondence concerning the relationship between the YWCA and YMCA of LIttle Rock.

This collection is open for use without restriction beyond the standard terms and conditions of Smith College Special Collections.
However, by agreement with the YWCA of the U.S.A., microdexes known to contain financial records or personal health information (usually on job applications) were not digitized and/or not published in our online repository as part of the CLIR Digitizing Hidden Collections grant. These microdexes may still be accessed on the original microfilm, and digital files may be made available to individual researchers upon request.
