California, circa 1920-1950
Scope and Contents
Administrative records, reports and correspondence concerning YWCA of the U.S.A. associations and youth services in California. Sponsored by the California Youth Authority, surveys are made of youth services in Madeira and Mendocino counties, California. The reports assess the needs of the youth in the counties studied, assess the education, recreation, law enforcement, welfare and health services, and make recommendations for improvement. Correspondence and reports from Napa and Merced document their requests for organizing YWCA of the U.S.A. associations and their efforts to organize a sustainable association. Monterey Bay and North Orange county documents include applications for affiliation, constitutions and bylaws, visitation reports and correspondence. Also included are the reports of Clara D. Roe and Rhoda Foster's studies of Monterey Bay and North Orange county. The reports analyze population data, assess current YWCA and YMCA activities in the area and make recommendations for further development of YWCA services.
